This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

As a long-time hairdresser, Amy Morrison saw how difficult it was for clients or stylists to know what to do with their children while at the salon. The issue became even more personal to Amy when she discovered she was expecting her first child.

She wanted to start a salon where children of both stylists and clients would be welcome. After her daughter, Elsey, was born, Amy's father told her about a building downtown he thought she should look into. The space turned out to be exactly what Amy wanted, and Main Street Studio was born.

Main Street Studio, located at 1802 S. Main in Salt Lake City, is a full-service salon with supervised play places for both stylists' and clients' children. While mothers receive a hair cut or color, facial, manicure or pedicure, their children can happily romp in the salon's basement play area.

Monitors in each treatment room allow salon patrons to keep an eye on their children while receiving services. And employees who work in the child care area are trained in CPR. The children's room is equipped with a slide, full-wall chalkboard, nursing room and a flat screen TV so kids can watch movies.

The feedback Amy has received on her salon has been incredible. Kids love it, moms love it and stylists love bringing their children to work. The salon has attracted clients from as far away as Syracuse or Draper who say the convenience of bringing their children with them outweighs any hassle of driving all the way to Salt Lake City.

When someone comes to have their hair or nails done, they want to relax. As she fixed up the salon, Amy took precautions to make Main Street Studio child-friendly while maintaining a nice, comfortable atmosphere clients can enjoy. She's excited that patrons and other stylists can now share her vision.

For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
