This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

While many companies are good at measuring what gets done, they are not so good at measuring how it gets done. For example, what is the impact on employees? How effective is the process, and how engaged are employees in what they do?

This is where DecisionWise comes in. Through surveys and feedback, the Provo-based company analyzes how employees work together and then coaches them on how to improve their performance. DecisionWise's expert staff has coached large and small companies worldwide, including General Mills, Sony Pictures, Nissan, Kennecott, and Novell.

I met with DecisionWise partners Juan Riboldi and Tracy Maylett who shared their company's success story. Founder Juan Riboldi truly embodies the American Dream. Growing up in Argentina under 12 years of military dictatorship, he came to Utah to study at BYU. With only a student loan and a vision for the future, he worked hard at school and work. By the time he was 24 years old, Juan had a business plan. But he knew he needed more experience, so he set a goal to start his business 10 years from that time.

After earning graduate degrees in organizational behavior and business management, Juan gained experience working as a consultant at IBM Corporation's world headquarters in New York and then for a local consulting firm. In 1995, he converted his garage to an office and launched DecisionWise. Juan later met Tracy Maylett, who holds an MBA and a doctorate in organizational change, and they combined their expertise to build a global company. It quickly outgrew the garage, and now has headquarters in Provo with associates across the country and clients across the world. DecisionWise has clients in 23 countries and conducts surveys in 19 languages.

Juan and Tracy believe that through feedback and coaching, workers can improve their behavior and leadership styles, which translates to a measurable impact on a company's bottom line. DecisionWise works at both the individual and organizational levels to make for more engaged employees and healthier organizations.

For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
