Bloomington Dental -- March 5, 2004
This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.
If there's one constant in today's business world, it's change. But as we sadly see, those businesses that refuse change, or are "cast in bronze" so to speak, are soon forgotten.
Well, as I recently found out, dentistry is a profession definitely not "cast in bronze" but is continually evolving.
I recently met with Dr. Chris Neilson, of Bloomington Dental in St. George, who told me about many of these revolutionary changes. How about this for change — while patients are treated they can watch a movie of their choice on an overhead screen. And if you're concerned about those big, heavy vests worn to protect you from radiation during X-rays, Dr. Neilson offers digital X-rays. They use 90 percent less radiation, no film and are more accurate. Plus, patients can even see their mouth on a computer monitor in the operatory.
Can't take pain? Well Dr. Neilson is a licensed IV sedation specialist. The IV sedation causes retrograde amnesia, so patients don't remember the procedure and can relax. Using IV sedation allows extensive work to be done in one appointment that would otherwise take three to four separate visits.
Dr. Neilson does a great deal of cosmetic and full mouth restoration work. He tells me teeth whitening is especially popular and that the change is not just cosmetic. Many patients say they feel more self-approval and confidence when their teeth and smiles improve.
Changing technology has made it possible for dentists to create these fantastic smiles. I learned that Dr. Neilson and his staff use the very latest equipment to give their patients the best dental care possible. The profession has indeed gone high-tech and Bloomington Dental leads the way in implementing these advancements.
For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
