Columbus Community Center announced that it has been awarded a ten-thousand dollar Daniels Fund grant to support its Dignity through Work Scholarship Fund.
In October of last year, Columbus launched a campaign to build the Dignity through Work Scholarship Fund in response to the ongoing unemployment and underemployment of people with developmental disabilities who traditionally face an unemployment rate around 65 percent. The Dignity through Work Scholarship Fund helps fund vocational training and “employment supports” that help individuals find and retain work in the community. The Daniels Fund is one of the charter donors to the DTWSF.
The Daniels Fund operates the Daniels Fund Scholarship Program and the Daniels Fund Grants Program in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. The Fund was established in 1997 by Bill Daniels, a pioneer in cable television known for his kindness and generosity to those in need.
