Monday's Metro Business Report -- August 24, 2009
THIS IS LANE BEATTIE, PRESIDENT OF THE SALT LAKE CHAMBER, WITH YOUR METRO BUSINESS REPORT.
With our Downtown Rising, right before our eyes, I can’t help being proud of the tremendous progress, and amazed by the architectural and construction excellence that makes it all possible.
Have you wondered what goes into building a skyscraper? How many windows? How many steps, bottom to top? How much steel? How many miles of wiring?
Here are some interesting details about 222 Main—the state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly, 22-story office tower scheduled for completion in November.
The exterior of the structure is covered with 36-hundred pieces of glass, weighing more than 1-point-1 million pounds. If you count the stairs from basement to rooftop, you’ll find 557. There are over six thousand pieces of structural steel and more than 201 miles of wiring and electronic cable.
Congratulations to Hamilton Partners, for bringing it all together at 222 Main.
THIS IS LANE BEATTIE FOR KSL NEWSRADIO.
